Nutrition Intelligence

MisePress stores calories, protein, carbs, and fat per serving. Values can be entered manually or calculated from ingredients. Multilingual nutrition should be described as multilingual-ready: for best accuracy, use ingredient aliases and custom nutrition mappings before FDA lookup.

Auto-calculation

PRO sites can enable Auto-calculate from ingredients on save in the recipe sidebar. The calculator uses:

1. A built-in database of common ingredients.
2. Optional FoodData Central fallback from the API key saved in MisePress → Settings → General.
3. Unit conversion for mass, volume, pieces, fractions, and common multilingual units.

Use Recalculate from ingredients to preview and write values into the recipe fields.

Frontend label

Single recipes show a nutrition label with per-serving values, a whole-recipe toggle, and live scaling when servings are scaled.

Disclaimer control

Go to Settings → General to hide the nutrition disclaimer or replace it with custom text.

API key test

Paste the FoodData Central key in Settings → General and click Test API connection to confirm it works.

USDA / FDA API key persistence

The saved FoodData Central API key is preserved during normal plugin updates, deactivation, and uninstall unless Delete all data on uninstall is explicitly enabled in MisePress Recipes settings before uninstalling. If MISEPRESS_USDA_API_KEY is defined in wp-config.php, that constant always takes priority and is never managed by the plugin.
